When my library people had their Strategic Planning meeting a few weeks ago, they talked about values. One of the values they think is important is for the library building, and the library staff, to be Welcoming.
I think it's important to lead by example, so here I am being Welcoming:
See me???
After a while, I decided that AB Karen was doing a fine job of Welcoming everyone who came in the door, so I went back to my Office for a refreshing nap.
We also had Thunderboomers last week. They were very impressive in their loudness, but much less impressive in the amount of rain and coolness they brought. As always, I retreated to my safe in-between spot on the Stairs. This allows me to be within earshot of my Upstairs AND Downstairs people.
I had visitors who tried to comfort me this time, though.
They helped distract me from the Thunderboomers, which was very nice of them. I'm a tough, brave, mancatly mancat--but Thunderboomers really give me the willies.
So do fireworks, but since we are rainless and HOT here, there were no fireworks here this 4th of July. I was absolutely thrilled, but I still wish it would rain so the corn and beans and vegetable gardens and lawns would perk up a little bit.
That is my Monday update! Today is Bored Board Meeting Day, so I have to keep AB Karen on task!
Purring for Rain,
Tober

I so would come in if I were anywhere near you if it were you that would welcome me in!
Tober, you have such a fine Library...you really are one lucky Cat!
Hi dear Tober:
I loved the photo of you welcoming, it made me think if I had to do that, I'm not sure I could. If I know the people, I could do it fine, but strangers I am not so good with.
My dog sister Stella is terribly scared of thunder, fire crackers and all those Boomers. She just sticks to our Mom like glue. But I go upstairs and get in under a bed and feel safe. When its done, I come back down stairs. Easypeasy!
It has been way to hot for all of us, a week or so ago we had 96 degrees. Now we are in the 85s and that is way better. But us furries and our Mom wouldn't mind if it was even cooler than that!
Purrs and pats,

Ooh, mom would love it if a sweet wonderful kitty like you would greet her at the front door of our library! Your beans are spoiled, spoiled, spoiled!
So nice that some of your little bean followers were there to comfort you when you were distressed. You are well loved, Tober, and it shows.
Wow, Mummy wishes she had you to sit at her library door welcoming people. She thinks you would come in very handy for calming exam nerves at certain times of the year :)xx
I'm glad you had a nice, quiet Fourth, Tober - although I too wish you would get some rain!
Tober, you are the best welcomer ever, and we would love coming to your library to see you. It is just a bit far for us in New Zealand, petrol is pricey.

That was nice of those little sticky fingered humans to keep you company during the thunder-boomers. We wouldn't mind some rain here either, so we will join you in purring for some.
Tober, we don't like the boomers much either. It was nice of those little peeps to comfort you.
Hope the thunderboomers go elsewhere! Hope you have found some good hidey holes. Sending you some rain from the UK as we have more than enough :)
We're not fond of thunderboomers either. Hope you get some rain without any more noise.
So glad your blog has reappeared. You gave us quite a scare when you disappeared temporarily.
I hope you got a rise. I have never, in all my born days, seen such a magnificent greeter!
