Barb L. just doesn't know when to quit. I try to tell her that I'm just not a trick cat. I ignore her, give her the cold shoulder, and try to express how much I don't want to be a trained circus cat. But unfortunately for me, Barb is a very persuasive human.
Which is why this happened:
However, there are still some things I will NOT do.
For example:
I will NOT jump through a hoop. Even if it is a very nice embroidery hoop someone very nicely let Barb borrow for thisNot gonna do it. Nope. |
Why can't we just stick with the high five... |
Barb's next task on her to-do list is to teach me to "speak" on command. I'm looking forward to seeing how she will try to convince me to do that one, because I'm thinking I might need a whole lot more treats for a trick like that.
Definitely not training for the circus,
Chance

Hello, Chance! We are pleased to meet you and strongly suggest you do not learn too many tricks as it might give other pet owners "ideas" ... and we regular house kitties might be forced to purr-form like you! The high-five paws up is very good though!
That is one very clever cat. Once when I opened the door to my dear old cat, He said Hullo in a very deep voice . It sounded like an old man but loud and clear. I nearly jumped out of my skin. It was what I always said to him in my light female voice. It only happened once. Once was enough ! Try that on Barb. She might stop teaching you tricks. 😂
But it's FUN to jump through hoops! That's one thing I don't get enough practice doing - and I have TWO hoops.
Stick to your guns, Chance! However, once treats get involved, it's pretty hard to say no to learning those tricks.
I don't see why anyone would try to get a library cat to speak; shouldn't everyone who visits and works in a library be quiet? That should go to someone who lives there, right? And as for jumping through hoops, well, the phrase says it all, I think...
I thought I'd commented here, but sometimes I forget. In any case, your human staff need reminding that you are not a dog, eh, Chance?
