Mess-Maker

Happy March everyone!  I hope that Hoodie Hoo Day was effective in your neck of the woods.  Here in dreary Thorntown we have snow, ice, cold, and clouds.  Boo!  Thankfully w e also have lots and lots of books, movies, magazines, and audiobooks to entertain people while they're stuck inside for the end of Winter.

Remember how proud AB Christine was about her snazzy clean desk?  Well.  Here it is now:

I have to admit, I prefer a slightly messy desk.  It's no fun Bossing if I don't have a nice warm planner or agenda or schedule to sit on.  This also greatly increases my chances of getting petted and/or treated!  But once a desk gets too messy, terrible things start to happen.  Treats disappear under piles of mail.  My water-cup gets moved to a new (usually temporary) spot.  But yesterday I learned the worst thing that can happen:

The mess actually leaks out into the library.

Friends, I was helpless to stop it.  AB Christine was too lazy to clean her desk to start a new project, so she just dragged the project out to the table just outside the office.  What a Mess-Maker!  She's worse than the little tiny children who attend the toddler story time programs!

In other news, two (2!) staff members tried to feed me dinner at the same time today!  NOW we're getting somewhere with all of my training.

Catching up!

Well, hello Internets!  It's been almost a month since my last post.  Wow, that sounded like the beginning of a confession.  Today AAB Kathy got onto AB "Blog Helper" (I put it in quotes, mostly 'cause it's a lie) about being such a slacker.  So here we are, with a Catch-Up post!

Firstly, today was Hoodie Hoo Day.  Those of you who have been reading my Adventures for a long time know all about Hoodie Hoo Day, which is on February 20 each year (in the northern hemisphere).  It involves a lot of shivering, shouting, and arm-flapping, and ends with ice cream and pink lemonade.  At noon sharp, everyone (except me) in the whole library goes Outside to yell "Hoodie Hoo" and chase away Winter.  Here's what it looks and sounds like:

I would like to go ahead and apologize to the Northern Hemisphere if Winter does not end this year.  AAB Kathy sneaked back behind AAB Britta for the Hoodie Hoo Day festivities!  AAB Rotten Ritchie even tried to fish her out, to no avail!  (She claims she was flapping her arms and Hooting along with everyone, but I can't see any evidence of it.)  If Winter doesn't end, you can send all of your snowballs and icicles to AAB Kathy at Thorntown Public Library.  We will forward them to her home address, where she will be forced to live in an Igloo until (at least) May.

AB Christine managed to take a few pictures of me over the last month.  Here's one that she calls "Two Cuties."

Apparently that little orange-like produce is a "Cutie."  AB Christine loves to eat them.  I think they're great for knocking onto the floor.  I don't understand why I have to share picture-space with something that is obviously not as Cute as I am!

Here is a picture of me on a clean desk.  AB Christine spent an afternoon cleaning off her desk and filing papers Away.  ("Away" means she will never be able to find them again, especially if they are Important papers that she needs.)  She was all proud of herself since it has been an absolute mess since she moved in at the beginning of the year.

That lasted for about one-and-a-half days.  Now it's a total wreck again.  But at least we got a picture!

Lastly, I will leave you with a picture of me.  Right before this picture was taken, I was using my Powers of Bossiness to get AB "Blog Helper" to become a better Blog Helper.  I was also Bossing her to help me visit some of your wonderful Blogs over the week-end, since I miss you all so much!

Unfortunately, AB left the FLASH on, so instead you get to see a picture of me squinting.

Home, Home on the Range. . .

Thanks, everybody, for the information about Internet Explorer being all goofy now.  AB Christine is using Chrome.  She has had it on her computer for a long time, but some programs like Chrome and some programs don't.  Just like Blogger doesn't always like Internet Explorer.  And how Firefox acts like a doofus sometimes.  So she using Chrome, which is New Thing for her.  Wish me luck, seriously.  Geez.

A little over a week ago we had a drum-roll big time event when we thought Christine's new desk name plate arrived.  (For the last few weeks everybody had been calling her "Hey you" or "Who's that person in Karen's office?")  So we all gathered around for the Opening of the Name Plate.

Bahahahaha!  Yep.  AB Christine slunk back to her office, all dejected-like, and resumed whatever it is she does in there all day (not giving me enough treats is one of those things).

So I had her fix things, since a name-plate without a name looks pretty stupid.

The other exciting news from over a week ago is that the library is now home to two (2) meese mooses caribou.  Yes, CARIBOU.  Do NOT let AAB Karen hear you call them moose!  The are pretty Spiffy, all carved and painted by one of our local woodworkers, Mr. Craig "Peaches" White.  Right now they are living in the Guinn room upstairs in the library.  For a while they were guarding the Tax Forms, but we didn't want folks to be too intimidated to pay their taxes.  They could get in Big Trouble.

Me, I am just busy Bossing, as always.

AAB Karen learned that I love her chair most, and rejoiced.

I hope everyone has wonderful weekends!  We have a heat-wave (50+ degrees!) and rain to look forward to.  Very happy to be an Indoor-Only Library Boss Cat with lots of servants, I mean, employees waiting on my every need.

Blogger Behaving Badly

Opening Act!

Merry Late, Late Christmas and Happy Late, Late New Year, everybody!

It has been so long since my last post that AB Blog Helper almost FORGOT my Blogger password!  Can you believe it?

I have three (3) pieces of exciting news today!

#3:  I am resolving, once again, to blog once a week during the new year.  We'll see if I can manage this time around!  (I will also try to be a better Blogging Friend by keeping up with everyone better!)

#2:  Did you catch the change in my second sentence?  AAB Blog Helper is now my AB Blog Helper!  This change will ensure the confusement of everyone reading the blog!  Mommy Karen, who was AB, is now an AAB!  She decided that, after 18 years of Directoring, she's going to be a Librarian again!  (She's really been both those things, and more, the whole time.)  She's going to work really hard at things like working only 40 hours per week and Not Bossing and taking whole days off.  She also going to spend more time working with the public and less time ordering toilet paper.

AAB Karen (and the Library Bored) decided that Christine could become AB.  They thought she would be good at ordering toilet paper and making rules and being hard to find when she has a phone call.  So now my Karen and my Christine and my Britta have all shifted around their respective carts full of junk, but they HAVE maintained the placement of treats.  AAB Karen is now in charge of stinky fish and AAB Britta is in charge of Gum Wrapper Monday.  I think that leaves AB Christine in charge of my V-E-T bills--no wonder Karen was excited about moving out!

My most exciting news, though:

#1:  I am the Funny Farmer Felines' opening act of 2013!

I hope you visit Mousebreath and read my interview!  I'm sure you'll find it quite enlightening--the FFF did a great job of asking interesting questions!  The interview was a lot of fun, and I'm honored to be the opening act of an exciting New Year.  Thanks for featuring me, FFF!
