Hanging with my Peeps

So we have a new Spring-y display going in the Youth Department case.  I like to supervise the installation of these displays to insure that they meet strict Library Display Standards.

*sniff*

What in the world are these things?

Okay.  So they're called Peeps.  That makes sense--

Those are Bunny Rabbits!  Bunny Rabbits don't make "peep" sounds, do they?  I'm confused.

I get bonus Adorable Points

Friends, I think we might have Hoodie-Hooed a little too hard on February 20. We did not intend to skip Spring and head straight into Summer, but that's what the weather is like here!

One good side-effect of Early Summer is all of the sunpatches lying around in the library. There is a particularly good one in the YA room every morning.


Once I'm warmed up by the sunshines, I really get a hankerin' for a good bellyrub.

Oooooh, here comes a potential bellyrubber right now!


Present the belly in the most irresistible fashion possible:


Notice how I maximize the rubbable area by (a) pulling my front feets up way high and (b) stretching my hind legs waaaaaaay out behind me. This makes my pettable surface area approximately 90% belly and chestal region.

Now, start rolling, dragging, stretching, purring, starfish pawing, and generally looking irresistible. How do you do this?



I know it looks like a whole lot of cuteness is being rewarded with not nearly enough belly-rubbing, but rest assured, I got LOTS of petting for that display of adorability.

Springtime for Tober

It is Springtime here in Indiana. Because I am an inside Library Cat, I don't get to go Outside with the birdies and the flowers and the squirrels and the other things.

So someone brought some Springtime inside for me.


Flowers are not very mancatly, so I will probably eat them later.

Spring is springing. . . maybe?

Today I am reporting on a seldom seen event: there is a large object in the sky which seems to be giving off heat and light. My library workers say this object is the sun. Old-timers say they recall when several days of sun would precede a season called spring. When asked, the Old-timers said something called flowers (technical term) would appear, the buds (technical term) on the trees would begin to show, and the snow (obnoxious white stuff AND technical term) would disappear. They also recalled grass (technical term) appearing from underneath the snow (oh those technical terms!).

Should this spring really occur, Humans and Animals will be leaping and skipping and hopping about. (Cats, of course, will be doing all this in a Very Dignified manner.) Old-timers will sing songs about “Tiptoeing Through the Tulips” and other fanciful melodies. Everybody look up into the sky and sing a song of welcome!!!
