There's a New Sheriff in Town.

I have been Abandoned and Betrayed by my ex-Assistant Boss Karen. She has run away on Vacation and left me behind, and I have been assigned a new Assistant Boss.

My new Assistant Boss is Ritchie. He used to be the custodian, but he decided that he would like to be Director and so he moved into my office:

Please notice that he is not actually IN the office. Ritchie is Allergic to me, so he does not actually visit much. He did give me a few treats, and he's doing a good job being Director in that none of the staff can find him when they need him.

I am very stressed about my ex-AB being away for so long. Everyone else is doing a good job keeping me distracted, except for AAB Kathy, who actually THREW ME OUT of her office this morning for rubbing my furs on her computer monitor and knocking her hand sanitizer on the floor! (Okay, she did not throw me. She carried my Majestic self upstairs and deposited me in another office.)

See how bad things are getting?

My precious Whisker-hairs are falling out! I'm going to name that one "Ritchie." The one after that shall be "Ritchie Jr."

I have also decided that I want to make my own cat breed--all by myself. I like being an orange tiger-kitty, but I think I deserve my own special breed name. One of my AABs really likes those Scottish Fold cats, so I'm going to compromise and work on being an Indiana Half-Fold cat:

I don't know how successful I will be, because I keep switching sides. . .

Hoping Whiskers grow back fast,

Thought-full Thursday

On this Thursday, I have three very important Thoughts.

First of all, I am sorry that I did not do a Happy Valentine's Day post. I hope everyone got to spend Valentine's Day with someone special. I got a Valentine's visit from my Assistant Boss Karen, so she was my someone special. The rest of the Staff. . . well. . . they are busy bribing me with treats to make up for the oversight.

Second of all, I am thinking that whoever brought this Ginormous Apple didn't think much about the poor, overworked Library Cat that would have to toss it into the wastebasket. So I licked my chops, sniffed at it a bit, and decided to take a nap instead.

It's gonna take a lot of treats to muster the strength (and inclination) to move this one.
Thirdly, my Library is open 57 hours each week, which is Very Good for all of the people who live in our library district and want to come in and check out books and read newspapers and use computers and things. But there are 111 hours a week that we are not open. During about 15 of those hours Assistant Assistant Boss Ritchie (who is Allergic to me but petted my head once anyway because he's a Daredevil) is also here. But for 96 hours each and every week, the in 'n' out board looks like this:

One of these things is not like the other. . .
Hrmph. That's getting a whole bunch of thoughts going. . . like Why don't I get Vacations?

Thought-fully yours,

Tober

Left Behind.

I was a very big help to Assistant Boss Karen in the last week. I helped her do paperwork,

warmed her chair, and even tried my paws at working the Adult Circulation desk.

Karen needed my expertise and support very much, and I did my best to help. I have been rewarded with my very own coffee cup--it says "Tober's Cup" (on the other side)--although Karen has decided that I probably shouldn't have coffee.

That is why I have not been able to post a blog lately.

But then, after all my hard work, Karen went on a Vacation and left me behind! Furthermore, she did not ask my permission to leave on Vacation, and by leaving, she is neglecting her very important responsibilities of petting me, giving me treats, and keeping me happy.

I first discovered her absence Saturday. I spent much of the day looking for her, going so far as to venture Downstairs. I thought perhaps she had gone Outside (she does that sometimes), so I went to the north door. Each time I went to the door, a staff member scooped me up and returned me to the Upstairs. This charade was repeated several times, until I was locked up in a office.

I have made my displeasure clear to the rest of the staff, so that they are sure to relay my unhappiness to Karen. They have assured me that she did not intend to hurt my feelings in any way, and will love me twice as much when she returns. I have heard that she is miserable on Vacation (because I am not with her), and she can't wait to return to the Library to see me. This is understandable, since I am a very handsome and lovable Cat, and I suppose I will have to forgive her.

The Assistant Assistant Bosses have assured me that everything possible will be done to keep me happy, and so far they have done a pretty good job. When I am locked up, it is always with a companion, and my meows are met with hugs and pets. I have been given many, many treats, and my tummy is frequently rubbed.

I suppose these Vacation things are permissible from time to time.

Now I must get back to instructing Cathie about the importance of neck massages.

Meows,

Tober
