My Fourth Finding Day!

As most of you guessed, today is Friday was my Finding (or Gotcha) Day!  (Slow help around here.)

I have been a Found Cat for four whole years!

AB Karen made a cake for me for my Finding Day.  I misunderstood and thought the cake was for my eating, but really it was in honor of my Awesomeness.  But I didn't realize that until after I licked the corner.  That's why there's a knife sticking up--it means "Reserved For Tober Do Not Eat!"

According to all reports, it was a very good cake!  I can say that the frosting was very nice.  :)

I got lots of extra treats and tummy rubs and hugs for Finding Day.  I managed to nap for a good deal of it, so I think it was a success.

AND, just when I thought Finding Day couldn't get any better, I received an Official Visit from two foreign (not from Boone County) dignitaries!  Janet and Bill Buckley came to see me, and they brought presents!

Bill works at the Mooresville Public Library with Cauli le Chat, the Feline Roving Reporter.  Remember my visit with Flat Five?  She's a busy busy reporter-Cat, and I'm sure she had lots to do in Mooresville, but she sent Bill and Janet to document my Fourth Finding Day. I could tell that Bill and Janet are great cat people, so I did them the rare honor of Standing Still and Letting Them Pet Me. 

Cauli's minions are obviously much more "with-it" when it comes to blogging about important events in a timely fashion (Help is still Wanted, folks).  You can read all about the visit on Cauli's Blog, which got updated on Saturday--while my AAB Blog Helper is frantically helping me type this at 3:19 pm three days AFTER my Finding Day!

Finally Friday

Last week we sent Flat Cauli V back to Mooresville Public Library via courier bag.  Flat Five was easy to pack, but we wanted to make sure she was in a nice padded envelope, and that she wouldn't get misdirected when she got home.  So we made her a special label and taped everything up nice and neat.

Then I sat on her.

Of course, my staff was just horrified by my behavior.  What they don't realize is that I'm not going to sit on just ANYBODY.  I mean, it takes a lot of trust to sit on someone!  And almost as much to turn your back on them!

So my behavior is a sign of my respect for and friendship with Flat Cauli (and the real deal, of course).  Duh. 

If you've been over to Cauli's blog lately, you can tell I'm a bit behind on my postings.  I am happy to report that Flat Five and the other contents of the Special Delivery made it safely home to Mooresville Public Library.  Pop on over and say "hi" if you have a minute!

Yesterday AAB Photographer captured my "concerned" look in a photo.  She often gripes that she has about 4,000+ "bored" faces, 20-something "mad" faces, and a handful of "worried-about-thunderboomers" faces--but I'm not one to show concern very often.

Well, of course not.  I'm Boss and I run a tight ship.  I'm only concerned when AAB Becki has a day off and I have to rely on one of these staff ladies to get my supper and scoop my box.

But in this picture, I look a little worried.

Another Official Visit

As you all know, I am currently entertaining Flat Cauli V here at TPL.  She was sent here as a representative of the Mooresville Public Library in Mooresville, Indiana--a Most Excellent Library if you're ever in the neighborhood.  MPL has a very special 100th birthday coming up, and it sounds like they have all sorts of excitement planned!

She was great help when it came time to set up the Friends of the Library Spring Booksale last week:

As you can see, we have a pile of "Get Fuzzy" books and lots of puzzles, but there are plenty of other things back there, too!  The staff and volunteers and Flat Five and I were totally exhausted after setting up the sale, so we all refreshed ourselves with cupcakes and naps.

The book sale is still going on--through Saturday--so stop by and get a good bargain on gently used VHS movies, books, audiobooks, and even magazines!

On Tuesday night our Friends had their Annual Meeting and Plant Swap (don't be fooled, this is an excuse to get together and eat cookies).  We had ANOTHER Official Visitor for the occasion!

Mr. Dick Munro from Crawfordsville wrote a book called Paddling Sugar Creek from the Source to the Wabash.  (For my far-away friends, Sugar Creek is a local waterway that passes through My County.)  Mr. Munro came and spoke to the Friends about his book, and read bits of it, and sold and signed his book.  Here he is reading an excerpt:

AAB Photographer did the Right Thing by (1) finding me, (2) picking me up, (3) making sure (with AAB Linda P's help) that no one was Upstairs, and (4) taking me Downstairs where I would be safe.

AB Karen got all of the people to the other safer end of the building.  And about the time we all got there, the sirens stopped and the sun came out.

Now, everybody teased me all evening because I was in my Special spot on the stairs--the one I use when the weather is bad.  Humans don't get it, Critters--we can tell, can't we, when something's going to go all haywire with the weather!

Mr. Munro and the Friends got to finish up and Swap Plants and have cookies, and I went back to my Stairspot for a bit longer--but all in all, it was a good night.

An Official Visit

Last week Thorntown Public Library received a special delivery in our Interlibrary Loan bags!

Flat Cauli V, emissary of Cauli le Cat, the Original Feline Roving Reporter, has been sent on a Library Critter World Tour--and TPL has the honor of being the very first stop!

Cauli le Chat is from Mooresville Public Library in Mooresville, Indiana. Sound familiar? My staff stole their 2011 Festival of the Turning Leaves float idea from them.

Anyhoo, Cauli has a library blog and writes about all sorts of things interesting to cats (and people, and other critters, too). She's great about posting Breaking Library News and links to MPL book trailers and sometimes even music videos.

Since she's so busy, she sent Flat Cauli V (Flat Five) to represent her on the Library Critter World Tour.

We'll get along just fine. . . as soon as she gets out of my chair:

I'm just kidding. I'll share my chair. I have lots.

Maybe we can do some co-Bossing and I can whip my staff into shape. Suppers are getting later and later and I had to ask TWICE for catnip today.

I think Flat Five and I make an intimidating pair!

When I told her to quit whining, she said it was kind of like when your people change your food with no advance warning. Or move your litter box to another room.
